The Converse shoe company has been going for over 100 years now, and remains as popular as ever. Starting life as the Converse Rubber Corportation, but it wasn't until 1917 that the world saw the first All Star Basketball shoe. Sales were slow to begin with, but then a certain Charles H Taylor, a player for the Akron Firestones basketball team, joined Converse in 1921 and as well as endorsing their products, worked as part of the sales team to drive sales. However, it wasn't until 1932 that Converse recognised his efforts, and the Converse Chuck Taylor was born. Not a lot has changed from a design aspect, and today's Converse Chuck Taylor shoes are as close to the orginal design as you could hope for.
